Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles) is an enthusiastic teenage girl who struggles to fit in with her peers due to her overwhelming love for the macabre. One day, whilst en route to summer camp, she stumbles upon a portal to the Demon Realm, a mystical dimension from which all of Earth's myths originate, where she ends up on the Boiling Isles, an archipelago formed from the decaying remains of a colossal humanoid creature. Upon her arrival, she finds herself crossing paths with a rebellious, gifted outlaw named Edalyn "Eda" Clawthorne (Wendie Malick) and her feisty, fuzzy roommate King (Alex Hirsch), both of whom reside in their living, breathing titular abode. In the series finale, Luz and her fellow weirdos overcome the odds to triumph over a powerful, manipulative man whose fear and self-righteous ambition have fueled his mission to annihilate everything he refuses to understand. And they save the demon realm without compromising who they are or what they believe in. Willow is one of the few friends Gus hangs out with on a regular basis other than the H.A.S, and he was Willow's only friend at the time before Luz came along.

More From the Los Angeles Times

Gus would express his joy in Hunter feeling happy and the two grew to become fans of Cosmic Frontier after finding books and DVDs of the franchise in the basement closet. Gus chose to keep his knowledge of Hunter being a grimwalker to himself, wanting Hunter to confess when he's ready while dropping hints through the Cosmic Frontier characters Captain Avery and Chief O'Bailey, who were later cosplayed by Gus and Hunter, respectively. After Hunter was freed from Belos' control he, along with the others, were fearful Hunter would not survive and he is relieved when Hunter wakes up. While struggling to break free, the liquid given by "Obvioso" to King slips from his pouch and drops to the ground.

Role in the series

However, Belos goes after it, and he watches as Camila pulls an unconscious Hunter out. After Belos returns to the Demon Realm, he and the others wonder what to do for Hunter as an injured Flapjack sacrifices himself to revive Hunter. After Hunter regains consciousness and Luz confirms she did aid Belos, they do not blame her and everyone, excluding Vee, who stays behind to keep up appearances, goes to the Demon Realm.

After Willow leaves, Gus tells the student, who introduces himself as Caleb, to not hurt Willow. In the epilogue of "Watching and Dreaming", Gus wears a yellow blazer and brown vest over a white shirt, dark blue trousers and loafers. From "Clouds on the Horizon" to "Thanks to Them", he wears a lighter cyan tunic with white baggy sleeves, a fuchsia belt and lining, steel blue tights, and red-violet boots. Following the Day of Unity and the unleashing of the Collector, Gus was stranded in the Human Realm with his friends and was forced to take shelter at the Noceda residence. At the end of "Thanks to Them", he along with Luz, Amity, Willow, Hunter, and Camila Noceda returned to the Demon Realm.

He does everything he can to keep Luz from getting caught, and/or finding out that he lied about the ban being lifted. He has Luz meet Mattholomule, shocking the boy, and when Gus presents Luz in the H.A.S. meeting, Mattholomule confesses to creating fake human items because he wanted the club to accept him; everyone forgives him and gives him another chance. A new member of the Human Appreciation Society, Mattholomule, challenges Gus for the position of president when he turns the society against him with his accusations about Gus' authentic human treasures being a fraud, despite the fact that his own treasures are fake. Gus turns to Luz for help in authenticating them, only to be reminded that she's still banned from Hexside's grounds; Eda says Principal Bump did Luz a favor banning her, leading to an argument between them. Luz is pretty bummed out by the fact she cannot attend Hexside since Eda still isn't taking her magic training seriously. Desperate to save his role as president, Gus lies to Luz and says he got the ban lifted, which makes her very happy.

After the ride, Luz and Hunter vanish as Amity realizes the rebus is missing as well. Just then Camila and Vee arrive, and they track Luz to a half-flooded graveyard and find Luz fighting Hunter, who is possessed by Belos. Gus, Willow, Amity, and Vee try to subdue Belos after he reveals Luz helped him meet the Collector, but the four are quickly defeated and they watch in horror as Belos crushes Flapjack. Hunter regains control long enough to throw the found blood into the water.

Adventures with Luz and Willow

As of "Clouds on the Horizon", he wears a lighter cyan tunic with white baggy sleeves, a fuchsia belt and lining, steel blue tights, and red-violet boots. In "Escaping Expulsion", upon reuniting with Luz at Hexside, she noted that Gus' voice had deepened as a result of witch puberty. Subsequently, Gus, Luz and Willow are expelled from Hexside by Amity's parents and after several failed attempts to return, crow phone sent by their father drag them back home to be grounded. Amity later recruited Gus and Willow to rescue Luz from her parents' weapon demonstration.

Gus sees Luz as the most fascinating person to have ever set foot on the Boiling Isles, mostly because she is a human. While he occasionally views her as a specimen to examine, he does see her as a genuine friend. Gus will occasionally get on her nerves, but always manages to get back onto her good side. He is willing to stand up for her and as seen in "Something Ventured, Someone Framed" when he took the blame for destroying the detention room; losing his place in the Human Appreciation Society. He is now roughly the same height as Willow, and his features are noticeably sharper, including his hair. In "King's Tide", Hunter saves Gus from Philip Wittebane after he looks into his memories, during which Gus learns of Hunter's status as a grimwalker.

When attending Hexside, Gus wears a gray tunic with a dark gray belt, cowl, and boots. As he is part of the illusion track, the color of his sleeves and leggings are a light blue. Gus is a young boy, noticeably shorter than Luz, Amity and Willow, with brown skin and dark brown hair with lighter shades.

Along the way to the library, Gus expresses his feelings of inferiority, as he feels illusion magic isn't as useful as other types of magic. It almost attacks Braxas when three Glandus High students named Bria, Gavin, and Angmar intervene and help capture the beast. Mattholomule then shows up with a map for the Glandus High students, leading to artifacts called the Galdorstones.

Gus and the others watch as Stringbean plays with the others as Belos and the Collector watch the group from afar. When they reach Hexside, they learn that the staff and a few of the students have been turned into puppets by the Collector's spies and they have been sheltering at the school ever since. After Boscha, who has taken command of the school, rejects their requests to take on the Collector after her adviser Mimi says it is too risky. After that, they go to the photo lab to try and get Luz's memory of Philip's teleportation glyph.

He feels similarly about King, though in "Really Small Problems", he was upset with him when he attempted to remove him and Willow so that he can have Luz to himself. However, by the end, he and Willow make amends with King and start to consider him one of their friends. In "Understanding Willow", Gus found Hooty more interesting than either Eda or King, but by the end of the episode, Gus discovers that Hooty can be annoying and unfocused.

She is forced to wash off enchanted graffiti, get rid of all the ghosts in the girls' locker room, apologize to Miss Jenkinmeyer for stealing her teeth, and much more. This declaration became increasingly resonant over the course of “The Owl House’s” three-season run, which concluded Saturday, as the show repeatedly broke new ground for LGBTQ representation in kid-friendly animation. While Gus is out on an adventure with the Glandus High students, Luz goes to the library. There, she discovers the name of the human was Philip Wittebane, and that he donated his diary to the library.

Belos' plans come to fruition as he reveals he never intended to free the Collector before Luz stops him from returning to the human world by branding him with a sigil in an attempt to force him to cancel the draining spell. He is affected by the Day of Unity, as it causes him to lose control of his body and mutate into a monstrous creature that nearly kills her and her friends. His body is obliterated when King frees the Collector, who cancels the draining spell. Belos begins to melt due to the boiling rain and unsuccessfully attempts to deceive Luz into helping him again before his remains are stomped to death by Eda, King, and Raine. Gus Porter is a prodigy on the illusion track who was "moved up a couple grades".

Gus has a close relationship with Willow, as seen in "Wing It Like Witches" when Boscha is picking on Willow and takes her hair clip, Gus snatches it out of her hair and gives it back to Willow. Willow also shows genuine concern when Gus almost gets hurt during the thorn vault and offers to help fix his broken flags. They come to and find Willow, who is losing control of her magic due to the stress she is keeping in and Boscha's words from a recent encounter. They two are almost smothered in vines until Hunter teleports away and tells Willow it is okay to be vulnerable.

However, upon hearing that she might acquire a long-coveted promotion, she turns on them. Luz and her friends manage to convince Boscha and the rest of the school to turn on her, resulting in her defeat once again.[17] In the epilogue, Kikimora is seen helping to rebuild the Boiling Isles, possibly as penance for her misdeeds. In "Hollow Mind", Hunter is transported into Belos' mindscape along with Luz, resulting in him seeing his supposed uncle's true colors first-hand. Additionally, he discovers that he possesses some of Flapjack's magic, giving him the ability to teleport.[17] In the epilogue, Hunter is seen working as a palisman carver. About a week before the Day of Unity, Gus sees a cardinal palisman picking a sandwich out of the trash and follows him, leading him right to hunter. Gus tries to get Hunter to answer his questions, but fails, and Bump soon calls every student down to the gym for an emergency assembly.
